Vision
Leavenworth County sets the standard for humane communities, becoming a place where all animals are treated humanely and every pet has a loving forever home.
Mission
Leavenworth County Humane Society, Inc. provides the animal welfare focal point for all of Leavenworth County.
- Conducts humane education for schools and community groups.
- Provides spay / neuter services to reduce the number of homeless animals and enhance the health of homed animals.
- Works to improve animal protection laws and their enforcement.
- Eliminates pet abandonment by providing a humane and legal alternative.
- Cares compassionately for stray, abandoned and relinquished animals in a pro-life, state-of-the-art shelter and licensed foster homes.
- Reunites lost pets with their owners.
- Re-homes adoptable animals with responsible owners and provides adoption follow-up.
- Helps owners retain their pets by providing education and training assistance.
- Assists in emergency planning and action for animals.
- Supports law enforcement with cruelty and neglect investigations.
- Partners with cities, the county, other rescues, shelters and animals welfare groups to create a humane county where people and animals want to live.
