Spay/Neuter Transport

One of the key LCHS missions is to “Provide spay / neuter services to reduce the number of homeless animals and enhance the health of homed animals.”  For every litter LCHS helps to prevent, five more shelter and rescue animals can be adopted.

LCHS conducts monthly low-cost transports for spay / neuter / vaccination services in partnership with Heartland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HSPCA).  LCHS covers the cost of the transport mileage, while owners ideally pay for their pets’ procedures.  Many procedures are subsidized or paid for by LCHS based on need.  Please consider donating to help LCHS cover these costs.

Each month, rotating through the six cities in Leavenworth County, owners / caregivers bring their registered animals to a central location (Thursday 7 – 8:30 am).  The pets are then transported to Heartland SPCA for their procedures.  They remain at HSPCA overnight to ensure they are well-recovered, then return to the LCHS location, so owners can retrieve their animals the next morning (Friday 10:00 – 11:00 am).  There are only 30 slots available each month, and owners must register NLT the Monday prior to the transport.

Register your pet or feral cat on-line for the location/date you desire or email LCHS with your name, address, phone, number of pets by species.  An LCHS volunteer will send you pre-surgery instructions and the exact location of your drop-off /pick-up point.
