Injured animal?

If you strike any animal with your vehicle:

STOP!

Help the animal if you can.  At the very least, attempt to keep it from being further injured by other motorists.

Don’t assume that because an animal leaves the scene that it is okay.  It most likely is injured and in need of assistance.

Attempt to find a pet animal’s owner.  If you can’t safely look for a pet ID tag on the pet, knock on the nearest doors and ask residents if they know the animal.

Contact law enforcement and request their assistance.

(If you witness someone striking an animal with their car and they don’t stop, please contact law enforcement and report what you’ve seen, with a description of the vehicle and the license number if possible.  Please Email LCHS to let us know what you’ve seen.)
