One year ago today, these kitties showed up on a kind woman’s porch outside of city limits before finding their way to us here at LCHS, Inc.. There were three of them at the time—Parmesan, Pepper Jack, and Mozzarella. Mozzarella found her home this past March, but Parmesan and Pepper Jack are still waiting patiently here with us.
When they arrived at LCHS, they were 3 months old, undersocialized, and unsure of people—especially Pepper Jack. It took a lot of time, patience, and consistency to earn their trust and show them that humans aren’t so scary after all. Because they were shy and not so flashy or uniquely marked, they were often overlooked during their “kitten season.” But we continued to show up for them, to spend time with them, to watch them grow up in the shelter, and little by little, we also got to see them start to come out of their shells!
They may not be the most outgoing cats in the room, but they are two of the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet. Over time, they’ve become comfortable here, and we know they’ve been ready to take that next step into a home of their own (hopefully together!) We do consider these two to be a bonded pair because they absolutely adore each other. They’re often found curled up in their hammocks together, and Pepper Jack is known for giving his sister the gentlest of head bonks.
At just over a year old, they’re still young but carry the calm presence of old souls. They’d likely be quiet, low-key companions—perfect for a cozy household. A quieter home with older children and no dogs (unless they are older/lazy ones that know how to co-exist with cats) would suit them best. They may do well with another cat, but introductions will need to go slowly and at their pace.
Pepper Jack is a gentle, sensitive boy who loves belly rubs and soft affirmations while Parmesan is a little more independent and would happily spend hours birdwatching from a windowsill. Together, they balance each other beautifully!
Their combined adoption fee is $150, and both are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. You can visit them in our communal cat room during open hours—just give them a little time to warm up. They’re shy with new people, but we promise, once you earn their trust, it’s something truly special.
