We are incredibly grateful to The Captain Jesse Leavenworth Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), for their generous support and outstanding community service at the Leavenworth County Humane Society last Saturday! They recently held their DAR Day of Service by volunteering here at the shelter. While here, CJL members and family members cleaned, sorted, constructed, weeded, and crafted with and cared for the pets in residence. The 2024 DAR Day of Service celebrates 125 years of Service to America.
During their visit, they bestowed honor upon two remarkable individuals whose contributions to our organization have been truly outstanding. Our devoted Executive Director, Crystal Swann-Blackdeer, and our dedicated long-time volunteer, Neal Hanley, were both presented with the prestigious DAR Community Service Award in recognition of their exceptional service to the community! Crystal was honored for her volunteer service as the full-time Executive Director of LCHS and for her advocacy of shelter pets throughout the state of Kansas. Neal was recognized for his work honoring Veterans. He has written and published hundreds of articles about local veterans interred in the area and his unwavering dedication for honoring Veterans holds great significance for both the DAR and the community as a whole.
Thank you, Captain Jesse Leavenworth Chapter, NSDAR, for your continued support and for celebrating the efforts of our incredible team members. Together, we are making a difference! ❤🐾
