The Making of Canvas For A Cause!

Over the course of just about 3 weeks, we had more than 20 pets tap into their creativity and they helped us to create nearly 60 pieces of art! Most of which is available right now in the online auction, but we still have many ornaments and a very wide array of jewelry on site at the shelter!
How do they do it? We will get whatever they are painting prepped and ready for them (since we are the ones with the thumbs!) Then, we judge a pet based on their vibes to select what colors they’ll be painting with before we add an array of colors to their canvas or other surface for them. Next, we will completely cover the surface in a baggy, parchment paper, or with some other kind of protective layer to make sure this is as mess free and safe as possible before we let them go at it! There is almost always cheese or other treats involved in this part of the process. They step on it, lick it, sit on it, try to run away with it, and just let their creativity flow! Then we take off the cover and voila! A beautiful painting has been created! The paintings are then back to the humans once they are dry and we add the finishing touches! Lastly, it's the artworks turn to find new homes!
All of the paintings you see being made are up for grabs in the Canvas For A Cause online auction! Each one was painted by the pets right here at LCHS, Inc. (and some were even adopted before they got to see their finished masterpiece!) All of the proceeds from this auction go right back towards helping the current and future pets of LCHS, Inc. receive the love and care they need until they find their forever home!
