We Are Thankful For..

On this Day of Thanks, we want to take a moment to do just that!

❤️ Thank you to our volunteers who come in day in and day out to keep this place running. We appreciate every single one of you for all of the miles walked with the dogs, the amount of cat boxes that have been scooped, loads of laundry done or even taken home when the washer decides not to like us; but most importantly thank you for all of the love and compassion you always show to every animal here. We send a very big thank you to our wonderful volunteer vet, who comes by anytime she has a moment available to check on all of the animals we have here at the shelter. We are so grateful to have you as a part of our shelter family.

❤️ A massive thank you goes out to all of our wonderful donors. Everyday your help makes a dream a reality for all of these sweet animals. What some of you may not know is that we are an independent shelter. The only funding we receive from the government is payment for sheltering services. Without the generosity of our incredible donors, we wouldn't have the ability to do any of what we do. With your help and support we have been able to care for almost 300 animals this year. This number may not seem very high to some, but it's incredible for a shelter of our size!

❤️ To the families of the 254 animals who were adopted out so far in 2023- you guys rock! We’re so happy you came by to see us when you were looking to add a new furry friend to the family. Thank you for welcoming one, sometimes two, LCHS pets into your home! (Also, thank you to everyone who calls, emails, or stops in with updates! We never get tired of them!) Every time you’ve adopted an animal from us, you helped us create a new possible forever for another dog or cat in our county.

❤️ Then to all of our amazing staff, we thank you for always being willing to jump in and meet every need that our dogs and cats have here at the shelter. No matter what the need is, you always do all you can to make sure our animals are both happy and healthy during their time here with us. Your dedication is the driving force of our shelter.

❤️ Last but not least, we are so thankful for this community both in person and online. You guys have come through for us time and time again. You always support us when we need it the most. You have supplied us with treats, collars, harnesses, and so many other things at a moment's notice. Without your continued support we couldn’t do what we do.

Our gratitude knows no bounds! Your support never goes unnoticed. From the individuals who donate monthly, the groups who choose to give back by spending the day with us, and adopters who encourage their friends to visit us when they’re looking to adopt. To our pals up at the U.S. Penitentiary for helping up to 7 of our dogs at a time become stellar canine citizens, our friends from K-State that help us with our spays and neuters, and the local businesses and groups that have done/are doing donation drives, fundraisers, or events for us! Thank you so much, you are incredibly appreciated, and we hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
