The Leavenworth County Humane Society, Inc. will be closed to the public from Friday, July 3rd through Monday, July 6th in observance of Independence Day. As always, our team remains available to assist our animal control and law enforcement partners throughout the weekend while our volunteers are ready to keep the pets company during the weekends festivities.
If you need to reach us, you're welcome to email LvnCoHS@live.com or leave a message at (913)-250-0506, and we'll follow up as soon as we can! We'll reopen to the public on Tuesday, July 7th from 12 PM to 6 PM.
As you celebrate the holiday, please remember that more pets go missing around the Fourth of July than almost any other time of year and fireworks can be frightening for our furry friends. Keep pets safely indoors in a secure, quiet area, ensure their ID tags and microchip information are up to date, and double-check that gates, fences, and doors are securely closed before the festivities begin. If your pet is prone to anxiety, now is a great time to prepare a calm space where they can feel safe and comfortable.
We wish everyone a safe and happy Independence Day weekend! ❤️🐾
